Using Virtuemart in tandem with JACL, and some hacks & tweaks, thestore serves a dual function as both a catalog for consumers and astore for retailers. Unregistered and registerd users can browseproducts and view the MSRP, while users that have been tagged as"retailer" users can view wholesale prices and make purchases throughthe store. To make administration easier we made some modifications tothe code to allow our client to input several custom fields in the admin interface, including custom MSRP values. We also modified the image uploading code to make it easier to modify images and identify images while using FTP. With our modifications, the store now uploads the image without renaming it, and uploads thumbnail images directly into the "resized" folder. It took some time, but all in all, it was fairly easy to modify Virtuemart to make it work exactly the way we wanted it.
